About Us
Supporting Multilingualism
At Tik Tak Childcare, we celebrate the rich diversity of languages in our community. Many children are bilingual or trilingual, with English as an Additional Language (EAL), and our bilingual staff support them and their families. We also provide dedicated support for native British families to ensure every child thrives.
We value each child’s home language and culture, working closely with multicultural families to create an inclusive environment. Our play-based approach helps all children build strong communication skills while embracing their unique backgrounds.
About Us
What Research Tells Us About Bilingual Children
- Research shows that bilingualism supports stronger cognitive development, helping children improve memory, attention, and problem-solving skills (Bialystok, 2001).
- Bilingual children often show greater flexibility in thinking and can switch between tasks more easily, which supports school readiness and learning across subjects.
- Early exposure to more than one language enhances social-emotional development, as children learn to understand and respect different perspectives and cultures.
- Bilingualism is linked to better language awareness, which can make it easier for children to learn additional languages later in life and succeed in literacy.
- Children who grow up speaking more than one language also tend to develop stronger communication skills, as they learn to adapt their language to different people and situations.
