I is for Inclusion

Every child deserves to feel safe, valued and truly welcome — just as they are. That’s the heart of inclusion at Tik Tak Childcare. For us, inclusion means more than simply allowing differences; it means embracing and celebrating them.

As a private day nursery in multicultural Milton Keynes, we’re proud to offer an environment where every child, family and staff member feels respected, supported and understood.

What does inclusion mean in early years?

Inclusion in early years settings refers to the commitment to welcoming all children, regardless of their background, language, culture, ability or needs. It’s about:

  • Equal access to learning and play

  • Removing barriers (physical, emotional or systemic)

  • Adapting practice to meet diverse needs

  • Encouraging empathy, kindness and cooperation

At Tik Tak, we don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Instead, we see each child as unique — and we adapt our environment and routines to ensure everyone has the chance to thrive.

What inclusion looks like at Tik Tak

Our approach to inclusion includes:

  • Cultural awareness – We celebrate home languages, traditions and festivals. Children see their identities reflected in our books, displays and play materials.

  • SEND support – We work closely with families and professionals to support children with additional needs. From sensory adjustments to learning plans, we personalise support with care.

  • Bilingualism – Many of our children are learning English as an additional language. We value and nurture their linguistic identity alongside English development.

  • Emotional inclusion – We use the key person system to build strong, trusting relationships. Every child is known, loved and guided through transitions with empathy.

  • Family partnerships – Inclusion extends to you, the parent. We listen, communicate and collaborate, ensuring you feel part of your child’s journey every step of the way.

Why inclusion matters

Inclusive early years settings foster:

  • Stronger self-esteem and identity

  • More compassionate, accepting children

  • Better learning outcomes for all

  • A sense of safety, belonging and connection

Inclusion also reflects the real world — a world full of beautifully diverse people. By learning early on to respect and understand differences, children grow into thoughtful, inclusive adults.

Our commitment to inclusive care

At Tik Tak Childcare, inclusion isn’t a checklist — it’s a mindset. It shows in the way we speak to children, the questions we ask families, and the way we design our spaces.

Whether your child is starting nursery for the first time, adjusting to a new country or language, or has additional support needs — they are welcome here. Always.
